Amateur photographers of all ages had the opportunity to show off their skills when the West Norfolk Academies Trust launched its inaugural photography competition, including those from our school.

What do Sir David Attenborough, Greta Thunberg, Amelia Earhart, Sir Isaac Newton, Rosa Parks and Napoleon Bonaparte have in common?

A host of colourful characters met at the school gates when West Lynn Primary celebrated World Book Day this year.

Children and staff alike at our school dressed as their fictional favourites for the annual event, which took place on Thursday 7 March.

Book-themed activities throughout the day included The Great Big Footy Book Quiz, spotlights on specific books and authors, a best costume competition and a whole-school assembly.

There was also the launch of a sponsored Readathon, and plenty of time for reading and shared stories.

“At West Lynn, we celebrate World Book Day to celebrate authors, books and reading,” said Rachel Daws, English Lead at the school, which is part of the West Norfolk Academies Trust. “It encourages our pupils to read for pleasure and get excited about reading.”

The 11 WNAT schools, both primary and secondary, are now all rated as Good simultaneously for the first time.
